Using other language fonts for dialogs & books
      #2915973 - 08/11/04 11:39 AM

Is there a way to alter the in-game fonts or add new ones?
The consept is to use the fonts to translate the books of the game, make/write new ones in other languages, or make some mods with foreign language dialogs, descriptions e.t.c
I know that this is possible because the game released translated in some other
European countries
Please help, thanks!

Yes, I belive you can set the fonts in morrowind.ini that lets you change what it uses, I don't know if you can use extra fonts

I did some work on the Morrowind font format up to a rough but usable font editor. However I lost interest in that project when I realized that you can't add new fonts to Morrowind, you can only edit the three fonts it already uses.

Magic Cards, the default font for most text.
Century Gothic, used for the console text, and can be used in books but currently isn't.
Daedric, used on magic scrolls.

Each font has 247 characters, some of which aren't used.

I was mostly interested in adding decorative or fantasy (eg Dwemer) fonts, so editing the old ones wasn't much good. But for what you want, it might be good enough. Maybe.

Anyway, if you'd like to try that program, it's here. But it lacks documentation so ask if you need help. It also requires the Dot Net framework.

The program asked for mscoree.dll, I downloaded and I put it in my system directory and then I got another message:

Please set registry key HKLM\Software\Microsoft\.NETFramework\InstallRoot
to point to the NET Framework install location

I work on winXP and I have also installed win98
Any suggestions to make FontReader2 work?
